This URL just reflects that there are not many women doing Erlang programming and thus I am often tagged as the female programmer doing Erlang programming although I also use other programming languages.
2 Months ago I visited Girl Geek Dinner in Berlin for the first time. I liked the event a lot. Somehow it felt really good to meet other women doing software engineering. I wouldn't say that I had a problem working mainly together with men or that I was somehow feeling lonely when being the only female programmer in a team, though meeting other women doing the same stuff was a little bit like the happiness you feel when being able to talk to somebody in your mother language after a while. We discussed what the reasons could be that there are that few women studying computer science or working in tech in Germany, Australia, USA.... It seems to be different in Asian countries. We didn't really find an answer. I haven't had the feeling that I had been faced with public conservative role models too much. Though when keeping an eye on it one can see these old role models much more often than expected. I was "shocked" when I saw the advertisements on the Tchibo homepage for the next weeks' baking utilities you can buy there (maybe I should also be shocked about the fact that I check this page every Tuesday). It's showing this happy woman doing baking. Where is the happy baking man?
As I have this new URL for my blog now, I will try to write more often, about tech stuff, discovery of conservative role models ... or whenever I feel like I want to write about something.
